We started Semaine Health because we want womxn to feel empowered about their periods and their health in general. Our first product is a plant-based anti-inflammatory for womxn with painful periods and it came from personal experience and personal passion.

We both have had painful periods for decades and also have endometriosis.

We were looking for a product that could help our pain and support our overall well-being rather than worrying about pain killers and their side effects. Lar's husband Matt is our third cofounder is our head of formulation with a Ph.D. in bioengineering and a research position at the University of Washington's Medical School. Our goal is to create more products that help womxn (anyone who identifies as a woman and/or is a menstruator) at every stage of her life, from her first period through menopause. So often womxn are dismissed when they express pain and discomfort. Pain might be common but should never be normalized.
